The Oscillating Horizon

Oh, I sea - by ArcaneTinFoil Rune
Two women found each other again after a long season of becoming.

One had spent years learning how to become fully, unapologetically herself. The other was had spent years learning that she did not have to remain the person everyone else had trained her to be. Between them lay a strange collection of old stories, old expectations, and old versions of themselves that no longer seemed worth carrying.

So, one day, they simply said, fuck it.

No explanations. No obligations. No trying to make sense of things that had already taken far too much sense-making. No dragging the past along just because it had the audacity to follow them.

They packed whatever they felt like taking and disappeared toward the water.

They found a ridiculous little hotel overlooking a beach that seemed to exist outside ordinary time. There were no schedules there. No clocks that mattered. No one asking who they were supposed to be. They drank sweet things straight from coconuts, wandered around barefoot, laughed at absolutely nothing, and stayed up too late talking about everything and nothing at all.

For a while, they remembered what it felt like to be uncomplicated.

Not perfect. Not healed. Not transformed into some shining final version of themselves.

Just alive.

The sea seemed to understand.

Each night, the tide came forward and retreated again, carrying away a little more of what no longer belonged to them. Old expectations dissolved. Old voices became quieter. The need to defend themselves against every remembered accusation slowly gave way to something softer.

Permission.

Permission to rest.

Permission to be ridiculous.

Permission to enjoy something without earning it first.

And eventually, somewhere between the moonlight and the tide, they stopped feeling like visitors.

They walked into the water together.

The ocean took them in without asking a single question.

Their legs became tails. Their hair drifted weightlessly around them. Their human edges seemed to loosen and disappear beneath the surface, and for one perfect moment they were neither who they had been nor who anyone had expected them to become.

They were simply two creatures returning to the oldest cradle there is.

The beginning.

The water held them gently, as though it had been waiting.

And when they finally rose again, they carried something back with them that neither had possessed before they left: renewed energy.

Not because the past had vanished.

Not because every wound had magically closed.

But because, for once, the past was no longer in charge.

They had remembered that beginnings do not always need an ending to come first.

Sometimes, you simply renew yourself—and let the horizon move with you.

A deep breath.

A change of skin.

A return to the water.

And two women looking at each other, laughing, and deciding that maybe the world could fuck off for a little while longer.

I was looking through Seraphim one time and had to relog in the ANWR Channel because of a discrepancy between the lag and the viewer version I couldn't let go of. A ship sailed by, and I sat on it—I honestly thought it was just some scripted object from LL.

Nope. It was a really cool person who ended up introducing me to the Passengers of SL group! A really cool mentor told me about more groups like that and their involvement with SL travel. But I remembered that Kimberly had always been into this sort of thing, so it very much reminded me of her.

Well, today, Kimberly took me on a Drivers of SL Navigation HUD adventure ~
